“Santi Aldama started playing basketball at the age of three, following in the footsteps of his father, Santiago Aldama Alesón. He led the Spanish national team to a gold medal in the FIBA U18 European Championship in 2019, earning him the tournament’s MVP award.
In 2019, he made the leap to collegiate sports at the prestigious Loyola University (USA). During this time, he achieved numerous successes, in 2021 Santi was selected 30th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz, who traded his rights to the Memphis Grizzlies.
In his second year in the NBA, he started in 20 of the 77 games played, averaging percentages that have made him one of the franchise’s most promising players. In the current third season, he is averaging career highs in points (12.1), rebounds (6.1), assists (2.1), and blocks (0.7) per game.
