Ultra trail runner

Pau Capell’s childhood dream of playing professional football were dashed in 2012 when he suffered a knee injury that ended his football career. As part of his rehabilitation, his doctor recommend trail running, a just a few months later, a new career was forged. The following year, Pau competed in his first trail race and won. He then followed up with a time of 2:58 in the Barcelona Marathon.

These distances where not enough for Pau, in 2014 he began to regularly compete in ultrarunning events. Excelling in longer and tougher races, winning the winning the Ultra Sierra Nevada (103 km) and the Ultra Trail Mallorca (112 km) in 2014. He has also gone on to win the Transgrancanaria Classic four times.

Pau has also secured the first position in the Eiger Ultra Trail, the Patagonia 100 Miler, and the TDS Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc. But his greatest personal victory came in 2019 when he won the UTMB in a record time of 20 hours and 19 minutes over a distance of 171 km, earning him the world title in ultrarunning.
